Homeopathy for Depression in Men

Everyone feels sad or irritable and has trouble sleeping once in a while. But these feelings and troubles usually pass after a couple of days. Depression is a common but serious mood disorder that may cause severe symptoms. Depression affects the ability to feel, think, and handle daily activities.
Also known as major depressive disorder or clinical depression, a man must have symptoms for at least two weeks to be diagnosed with depression.
Men and women both experience depression but their symptoms can be very different. Men are less likely than women to recognize, talk about, and seek treatment for depression. Yet depression affects a large number of men.
Some men with depression hide their emotions and may seem to be angry, irritable, or aggressive while many women seem sad or express sadness. Men with depression may feel very tired and lose interest in work, family, or hobbies. They may be more likely to have difficulty sleeping than women who have depression.
Sometimes mental health symptoms appear to be physical issues. For example, a racing heart, tightening chest, ongoing headaches, or digestive issues can be signs of a mental health problem. Many men are more likely to see their doctor about physical symptoms than emotional symptoms.
Men may turn to drugs or alcohol to try to cope with their emotional symptoms. Also, while women with depression are more likely to attempt suicide, men are more likely to die by suicide because they tend to use more lethal methods.
Depression in men can be caused by genetic factors, environmental stress (such as financial problems or loss of a loved one) or illness.
After a diagnosis, depression is usually treated medically with medications or psychotherapy, or a combination of both. The usual medication is some form of an anti-depressant which may have significant side effects.
Homeopathic treatment for depression is a great form of alternative medicine and natural therapy for depression. Thank you for this article. I feel like my husband is experiencing depression and has strong key notes symptoms in each remedy you described. With Ignatia it’s the avoidance of others. Nat mur: does not like consolation and is easily irritated and offended by things. (If I told him he might be depressed he’d feel disrespected). Sepia: indifference in relationships and previous activities as well as liking to be alone. Kali phos: mental and physical exhaustion and poor sleep.
Will a homeopath take a case via proxy? My husband refuses to get help for anything let alone the suggestion of depression. I’m wondering if I could talk to someone to do the diagnosis. He’ll humor me and take my “voodoo“ pills which I can say are for his chronic cough. I can not often get a good remedy for him because he hates answering a bunch of questions and gets irritated.

Perhaps you can try and locate a homeopath in the area you live. It is not ideal to treat someone through proxy although a partner’s perspective can be helpful at times.
You can also look at the sadness as a possible good thing in that it’s the self’s way of instigating change. As most people resist change sadness is a way of focusing the self to explore areas of one’s life that may be causing a block. Difficult times may teach us much more than when things are going well.
I wish you and your husband well.
